National Atlas of Ukraine

National Atlas of Ukraine. Electronic Version

The National Atlas of Ukraine is a fundamental scientific work created by a team of authors and organizations headed by the Institute of Geography of the NAS of Ukraine.

The Atlas exists in paper and electronic form. The electronic Atlas combines visual cartographic images and features for getting attribute information via cartographic interface.

ISGEO carried out the elaboration of the electronic version of the Atlas and took part in the creation of separate thematic maps.

The release of The National Atlas was preceded by The Electronic Atlas of Ukraine (2000-2001).

The system was created in several stages during 2004-2009. Its labour input was 45 person-months.

Atlas of Radioactive Contamination of Ukraine

The Atlas of Radioactive Contamination of Ukraine covers the consequences of the accident that took place on Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station on April, 26th 1986.

The Atlas was created by ISGEO at the request of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Ukraine. The Atlas exists in paper and electronic form. The electronic Atlas combines visual cartographic images and features for getting attribute information. The Atlas was issued twice – in 2002 and 2008.

RadEco - System of Informational Support of Activity of the Department of Radiation Protection of Population

The Integrated Automated System RadEco

The Integrated Automated System RadEco is a powerful tool to support the work of the personnel of the Department of Radiation Protection of Population.

It is a data bank of information on the consequences of the Chernobyl Catastrophe. Current up-to-date information is added to the data bank every year and includes data on contamination doses of food products and people, as well as contamination levels of soil.

The measured data is linked to geographical objects, visualized on the map, and is retrieved by the user by selecting an object or an area on the map and running one of the database queries.

There is also feature for creating thematic maps and queries.

The system was created in two stages during 1996-1999.

ENVREG 9602

Doses of irradiation of population of the Zhitomir area

ISGEO has developed an integrated CD within the framework of the Tacis financed project ENVREG 9602 "Addressing the clean-up and secondary medical effects of the Chernobyl disaster". It brings together in a single and simple information system the broad range of Chernobyl related information materials produced by several Belarusian, Russian and Ukrainian institutions with the assistance of EU experts.

These materials are varied in character and include brochures, leaflets, handouts, teaching and learning materials, as well as video presentations. The materials cover a number of sectors, e.g., health, education, soil contamination, etc., and are intended to serve broad target audiences.

The system was created in 2001.

Information System ChIIS-FGI of French-German Initiative

Information System ChIIS-FGI of French-German Initiative

FGI was a response of the Governments of France and Germany to the appeal of Ukraine to unite international effort in the area of studying the problems of nuclear and radiation accidents. The FGI objective was to create a reliable and objective information database on radiation, ecological, and medical consequences of the Chernobyl accident.

The FGI includes three projects: Sarcophagus safety, Radioecological consequences of the Chernobyl accident, and Health effects of the Chernobyl accident.

Within the FGI framework, ISGEO has created ChIIS-FGI - information system that includes all major results of the FGI. The system includes the following packages:

  • Publications (for public users);
  • Products (for the users interested in direct access to the project results);
  • Processes (for managers, who plan and manage the project, as well as for the managers, who will address similar tasks in other similar projects);
  • Basics and services (basic information that shall help the experts to develop and operate the system);
  • Electronic archive, Paper archive (to ensure safe storage and efficient use of electronic and paper results of FGI projects);
  • Navigation (a set of hyperlinked HTML pages, most of which shall be access pages to the information system elements).

The system was created in 2004.

Distance Learning Complex

A example of control task of students

The Distance Learning Complex is a multimedia technology for monitoring, analysis and assessment of knowledge of students of different branches of study.

This software and tutorial complex includes a number of electronic books to help students in their prior preparation for the assessment. These textbooks contain the description of the learning material, and the examples of problems. After the learning material, the students move on to the tests. Due to interactive technology the problems can be solved easily and quickly. Test results analysis system instantly assesses a student’s knowledge. Teachers will find this method of controlling students’ work and knowledge level very convenient.

The complex is represented in the form of a site. On this site a teacher may form student groups, conduct and create classes, use available learning materials, and create assessment tests, which will be accessible to students. A teacher can browse students’ test results, give comments to the answers and edit students’ scores.

This complex was developed by the company "Bedford, Freeman & Worth Publishing Group" on the basis of the Angel® Learning Management System. The company ISGeo carries out portal maintenance and error correction, creates new assessment math tests, and is responsible for updating the results analysis component.
